Renovations underway at LAX ahead of 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics

LOS ANGELES (CBS, KYMA) - Renovations are underway at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), getting ready for the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.

The people mover at LAX is finally moving, except no one is on it because airport officials are doing test runs without passengers for roughly two months. Test runs began Monday.

The trains will connect terminals to parking lots and pick-up zones, but the people mover is three years behind schedule and billions of dollars over budget.

There is still no date yet on when it will open to passengers.
