Tracking breezy and windy conditions into Friday

Breezy and windy conditions will pick-up tonight and carry through Friday morning for the Desert Southwest. Tracking nice daytime temperatures for now, but we will warm back in the 90s very soon.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Imperial County until 5 p.m. Friday due to the strong winds bringing widespread blowing dust.

Winds will strengthen this evening, especially in Ocotillo. Winds will be coming from the west and southwest with gusts 20-25 MPH.

A current lower pressure system toward our north will continue to pass by through Friday, keeping us gusty and slightly cooler than normal.

A Wind Advisory is issued and will go into effect 3 a.m. through 1 p.m. Friday for parts of the Desert Southwest due to strong northerly winds and gusts up to 50 MPH.

Winds are expected to shift and come from the north/northwest overnight, bringing in breezy and windy conditions on Friday morning/afternoon. This time, stronger winds will be impacting more in Yuma County.

Gusts will be between 25-30 MPH. Stronger winds are possible. Remember to keep your doors and windows closed.

Looking ahead to the weekend, tracking calmer winds and warmer temperatures. Daytime highs will warm into the 90s toward the end of the weekend and into early next week.

We will have cooler and seasonable temperatures joining back in for Earth Day.
