U.S. Court of Appeals says White House ballroom construction allowed through this week

WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - Construction on the White House ballroom can continue for now.

A U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Saturday that work on the project can go through at least until April 17.

The court also sent the case back to the federal judge who initially ruled against it, citing arguments made about the ballroom construction's impact on the safety and security of the president.

Judge Richard Leon issued a preliminary injunction on March 31 to halt construction, and later paused the order for 14 days.
