Chris Taylor wins Wisconsin Supreme Court race

(CNN, KYMA) - Judge Chris Taylor is projected to win a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, Taylor defeated conservative Judge Maria Lazar in the race to replace a retiring conservative judge.

Wisconsin is a key battleground state, and this victory expands the court's liberal majority to five-to-two.

Taylor previously served as a Democratic legislator and was an attorney for Planned Parenthood, and she outraised her opponent as well as got support from several top Democrats.

The win potentially solidifies liberal control of the court through the end of the decade.

Following her victory, Taylor spoke to her supporters saying, "I am so honored that I get to continue this work at the state Supreme Court. It is an honor that the people of Wisconsin have bestowed on me that I will never, ever forget and I treasure it."
