Yuma High remains undefeated against Dysart in all-time meetings

A six-run fourth inning fueled the Criminals to a demanding victory over the Demons

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma High School erupted in the fourth inning, powering the Criminals past the Dysart Demons 10-4 in region play at Curley Culp Memorial Stadium, continuing its unbeaten streak against the Demons.

Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, the Criminals found their rhythm at the plate and flipped the game with a relentless offensive surge.

Dysart initially halted the momentum with a defensive highlight. Senior left fielder Marcos Leyva Garcia fielded a single cleanly and fired a strike to home plate to cut down a runner, preserving the Demons' shutout.

But Yuma's bats quickly came alive.

Thomas Grijalva sparked the rally with a ground ball that slipped through the infield and was misplayed in the outfield, allowing two runs to score and trimming the deficit to 3-2.

Moments later, Jackson Gastelum delivered another base hit that again led to a miscue in the outfield, bringing home the tying run.

The Criminals seized control shortly after. Following a pitching change by Dysart, a passed ball on the first pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score, capping a chaotic inning for the Demons and giving Yuma a 4-3 lead.

Yuma continued to pour it on, adding two more runs in the inning and building a cushion it would not relinquish.

The Criminals' offense stayed hot the rest of the way, finishing with 10 runs as they pulled away for the victory.

With the win, Yuma improved to 9-7-2 on the season and maintained its perfect record in region play. The Criminals will face Dysart again Thursday, looking to extend both streaks.
