SpaceX rocket seen soaring across Southern California sky

HESPERIA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - A SpaceX rocket was seen soaring across the night sky over Hesperia, California after it launched Monday.

According to SpaceX, a Falcon 9 launched 25 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

"This was the first flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which launched one Starlink mission," SpaceX said. "There was a possibility that residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura Counties may have heard one or more sonic booms during the launch, but what residents experienced depended on weather and other conditions."

Footage captured shows the launch streaking across the sky, as seen from Hesperia.
