Monday baseball and softball update

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) — It was a packed day on the diamond Monday with local baseball and softball teams hitting the road for a full slate of matchups—and plenty of action across the board.

Leading the way was Yuma High, which picked up a dominant doubleheader sweep over Coronado. The Criminals rolled to a 15-2 win in game one before following it up with an even stronger 21-5 victory later in the day.

Kofa also had a strong showing, taking down Red Mountain 9-3, while Yuma Catholic edged out River Valley in a tight 2-0 win behind a solid defensive performance.

Elsewhere, it was a tough outing for Gila Ridge, falling 9-2 to Paradise Valley, while San Luis dropped a close 5-4 battle against Apollo.

Calexico came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Ramona, and Rancho Buena Vista fell to Brawley 3-1.

Imperial rounded out the action with an 11-5 win over West Hills.

Overall, it was a busy and competitive Monday for local programs, with several teams showing flashes as they continue through the heart of the season.
