Maxx Crosby returns back to Raiders after failing medical examination from Ravens

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KYMA) - The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of their blockbuster trade for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, voiding a deal that would have sent the standout defensive end from the Las Vegas Raiders to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks.

The Raiders announced Tuesday that the Ravens withdrew from the agreement and said the team had no further comment on the matter.

According to reports, Baltimore canceled the trade after raising concerns about Crosby’s physical examination. NFL trades are contingent on players passing a physical and are not finalized until the new league year begins, which starts Wednesday at 4 p.m. Eastern.

The reversal places Las Vegas in an unusual position after the team had already begun reshaping its roster during the opening days of NFL free agency. The Raiders were among the league’s most active teams early in the signing period, making several additions while initially preparing to move forward without Crosby.

Now, the star edge rusher remains with Las Vegas as the organization evaluates its next move. According to Adam Schefter, multiple teams have already contacted the Raiders to inquire about Crosby’s availability via trade.

Schefter also reported that Las Vegas is prepared to keep Crosby and move forward with him on the roster while continuing to listen to potential offers from other teams.

For Baltimore, the decision is not unprecedented. The Ravens have previously backed out of deals due to medical concerns discovered during the physical process.

With the new league year set to officially begin Wednesday, the situation surrounding Crosby and the Raiders remains fluid as teams across the league continue navigating the early stages of free agency.
