Crews in Canada track down runaway bison calf

(CBS, KYMA) - Crews located a young bison that ran away from a herd in the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation's territory in Manitoba recently, with teams managing to track down the adventurous bovine and successfully bringing it back to a ranch.

According to Canadian news outlet CBC, the calf broke free from the herd and was loose for about 12 hours.

Brokenhead Ojibway Councillor Christopher Kent told the outlet as herd animals, bison don't stray too far from the group, but noted there is a pecking order and the calf may have gotten pushed around through the fence.

Brokenhead Ojibway Nation recently released the footage and wrote, "A young bison that had wandered away from the Brokenhead Bison Ranch has safely made its way back home! Thank you to the Manitoba First Nations Police and the Brokenhead Land-Based Team for alerting us to the escaped bison and assisting in the effort to bring her back safely."
