Quick switch-up in the Desert Southwest to start the week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The winds have been brutal for just about a week now, and that won't be changing to start the work week. However, they will be slightly slower, sitting in the 15-18mph range early Sunday evening and again Monday.

What is straying from the weather pattern norm in our desert terrain is the rain that we are tracking for Monday.

There is a 50/50 chance for showers in the afternoon time frame Monday, but it won't be down-pouring. It is expected to remain on the lighter side, with scattered rain tracking on our radar. About a tenth of an inch is anticipated in total.

Temperatures are back in the mid 80s today, but we will see another cool down with the rain. Yuma is expected to peak at 74°F, while El Centro will get up to 75°F.

Salton City, Blythe and Quartzsite are going to max out at 78°. On the polar end of the weather, several areas including San Luis and Wellton are only going to reach 73°F.

Following Monday's funky start to the week, it should be sunshine and a warm-up following suit.
