One dead, one in critical condition after small plane crashes on a golf course in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (NBC, KYMA) - One person is dead, and another is in critical condition, after a small plane crashed on a golf course in Albuquerque Friday.

New Mexico State Police responded to the crash around 11:44 a.m.

The single-engine Cessna 400 was attempting an emergency landing when it went down at the Los Altos Golf Course.

Both occupants were taken to a local hospital. One has been confirmed deceased, while the other remains in critical condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is on the way to assist with the investigation.

Records show the plane was coming from Wichita, Kansas, making a fuel stop in Albuquerque, and headed to Scottsdale, Arizona.

The crash is still under investigation.
