Breezy conditions continue ahead of slight rain chances

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Residents in Yuma and Imperial counties should expect breezy to locally windy conditions through Saturday as a lingering weather system affects the region.

Gusts of 25 to 35 mph will be common, with occasional stronger gusts possible over elevated terrain.

Friday's temperatures are on the cooler side for early March, with highs in the low to mid-70s. Saturday sees a slight warm-up, with highs climbing into the mid-70s to around 80 degrees.

Looking ahead, a slow-moving weather system near Northern Mexico is expected to bring a small chance of rain on Monday, though totals are likely to remain light. Most areas can expect less than a tenth of an inch, with slightly higher amounts in nearby higher terrain.

Afterward, high pressure will return midweek, bringing warmer and mostly dry conditions. By Wednesday and Thursday, highs could reach the mid-80s, potentially climbing into the low 90s by late next week.

Fire weather concerns remain elevated due to dry conditions and gusty winds, with minimum humidity values between 10-15% and overnight recoveries only reaching 30-50%. Residents are advised to exercise caution with outdoor burning or activities that could spark fires.

Overall, the area will see a mix of breezy afternoons, warming temperatures, and mostly dry conditions, with only a slight chance of rain early next week.
