AAA says gas price average rises 11 cents

(CBS, KYMA) - The average price for a gallon of gasoline jumped 11 cents overnight to about $3.11 in the U.S., according to AAA.

Tuesday's jump in price is the first time the average has gone above $3 since late November.

AAA reports gas demand is expected to increase in March as spring break season kicks off and more drivers take road trips.

Spring also marks the start of the seasonal rise in gas prices as refineries are beginning the process of producing summer-blend gasoline, which contains pricier additives to help reduce evaporation during warmer months.
