Tracking unseasonably warm temperatures through the weekend, as highs will warm into the upper 90s this weekend. Plus, daily record highs are looking likely.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- It's the final Friday of February and we are ending the work week with well-above-normal temperatures. It's feeling more like late spring for the Desert Southwest.
YUMA BREAKS DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE this afternoon. Yuma reached 96 degrees, beating the daily record high of 95 degrees that was set back in 1986. El Centro also reached 96 degrees, which TIES their daily record high for today's date. These are 20 degrees above normal. And there are more chances for record-breaking temperatures this weekend.

A strong ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate the Desert Southwest trending our temperatures 20-degrees warmer than normal.

Temperatures will warm into the upper 90s this weekend and record high temperatures are looking to be tied or broken through Sunday. It's going to be very warm close to February and unseasonable start to March.
The BBQ & Brew Fest is happening in Downtown Yuma on Saturday and it will be a toasty day. Check out our events page to see what else is happening this weekend.
Get ready! We have a double event Tuesday March 3rd. It will be a Full Moon AND we will also see the Total Lunar Eclipse as well. This is when the moon will appear red. Mark your calendars.

This warm weather we do have minor heat risks, so make sure to stay hydrated and take shade breaks if you are going to be outdoors for a long period of time.

Meteorological Spring begins on Sunday, March 1st. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), meteorological seasons use fixed calendar months rather than fluid astronomical seasons because it makes calculating seasonal statistics easier and produces more consistent data. Meteorological spring is broken in 3 months: March, April, and May.

With spring being around the corner, that only means our temperatures will be heating up the next 3 months. Look at our average highs at the start of the next 3 months.
