President Trump tries on gold medal from U.S. men’s hockey team
WASHINGTON (CBS, KYMA) - President Donald Trump got the chance to try on an Olympic gold medal while welcoming the U.S. men's ice hockey team to the White House Tuesday after their gold-winning game at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
President Trump invited the men to Washington to attend his State of the Union address Tuesday after they celebrated their win in Miami.
The team was seen boarding a U.S. Air Force 757 aircraft at Miami International Airport that morning, according to news reports.
Footage from Trump adviser Margo Martin shows hockey player Matthew Tkachuk offering the president his gold medal for a picture.
"I'm not giving it back," Trump joked as Tkachuk handed the medal over. "Let me tell you, that's cool. I never thought I'd ever have this on me."
