YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Read they say, it'll make your imagination more than okay! In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday Monday, schools across the nation are celebrating Read Across America Week.

Dr. Seuss Day is held annually on March 2nd to celebrate what would have been the 116th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, the author of the famous children's books.

Dr. Seuss's books are known for their rhyme, repetition, and cadence of the writings that make the books the best for children to start reading.

He wrote "The Cat in the Hat" because he was concerned about kids learning to read, and was challenged by a publisher to write a book first-graders can't put down.

The silly rhymes are known to put smiles on the child's faces.

Workers from all professions came out to visit local schools across Yuma County and read to different grade levels different class favorites.
