Heavy snow impacts California’s Sierra mountains

SODA SPRINGS, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - A band of heavy snow is causing travel complications in California's Sierra mountains.

Flakes started falling Tuesday night as rain transitioned to snow.

Cal Trans crews were active throughout the night, checking for snow chains on vehicles.

The much needed snow comes after a fairly dry winter across Northern California.
