CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Morning light hits snow-covered valley in North Carolina

VALLE CRUCIS, N.C. (CBS, KYMA) - Snow and gusty winds hit parts of northern North Carolina and western Virginia overnight from Friday into Saturday, weather officials said.

Video from John Downs in Valle Crucis, a community about five miles west of Boone, North Carolina, shows fresh snow in the area as the sun rose Saturday morning.

"Looks like we had about two inches of snow since midnight," Downs wrote in a post on X.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg said snow lingered through the night but was expected to end after sunrise.

"No additional snow is expected for the rest of the day, but the gusty winds have and will continue to blow snow onto roads and surfaces," they said.
