YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Vehicle thefts have been on the rise in Yuma County, according to Yuma Police Department (YPD).

YPD says more vehicle burglaries have been reported in Yuma County.

YPD gives the following tips to avoid having your vehicle stolen:

  • If you have a security system, make sure all cameras are working properly
  • Park under security cameras if possible
  • Don't leave valuables in plain view
  • If your vehicle has been broken into, don't touch anything and call police immediately

"We want to be sure that no evidence is accidentally tampered with, so we can provide the best service possible for the case," wrote YPD.
