YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Locals participated in the NAACP Yuma Branch's MLK Celebration Walk Monday.

The event took place at Yuma City Hall, located at One City Plaza, at 11:00 a.m., and it is to honor King's life and legacy.

The NAACP Yuma branch asked those who attend the event to wear comfortable shoes, and bring their family and friends.

From Yuma City Hall to the MLK Youth Center, many walked the streets to remember and honor the late activist.

The event was followed by a special ceremony with keynote speakers, singing, and food.

Several locals said it's great to see everyone come together.
