AI expert on how the technology can help with New Year’s resolutions
SAN DIEGO (NBC, KYMA) - As 2025 wraps up, and as 2026 is fast approaching, a lot of people are thinking about New Year's resolutions, but sometimes, most resolutions fizzle out by February. This year though, artificial intelligence (AI) could be the game-changer.
From paying credit card debt, mortgages, school tuitions, financial resolutions top many lists.
AI is making it easier than ever to turn those goals into reality, acting as your nonjudgmental money coach 24/7.
Michael Todasco, an AI expert atthe San Diego State University Center for AI talked about how can AI help people save money.
"If you're using credit card or other electronic payments where you have a record of all of your transactions, take a picture of that upload it to AI and say, 'Hey, this are my last six months of transactions that I've had on my credit card. I want to cut back my spending because I want you save $200 a month,'" Todasco explained.
AI will give you practical ways you can save money based on your expenses. According to Todasco, the more details you give AI, the better results you'll get.
For people using AI to help with their professional goals, Todasco says AI is great at teaching them new things.
"If you want to move from industry X to industry Y, and you don't know a lot of industry Y, start asking it questions. 'I want to make a shift into this world what are the things that I really need to know,'" Todasco spoke.
You can even upload your resume and AI can help you find jobs.
"If it knows your resume, say, 'Hey , I am going to interview for a financial analyst job at this company, can you ask me the questions? And at the end, I want you to critique my responses,'" Todasco said.
AI can also help people with their health and fitness goals. The key is to tell AI exactly what you want.
"It can customize the whole experience for you and say, 'Hey, these are the types of meals you should be eating.' You can say, 'This is my budget...The amount of time I have to prepare meals. Can you help me meal plan for this week and next week?" Todasco shared.
