Paramount unveils ‘Star Trek’ themed float head of Rose Parade

PASADENA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - In Pasadena, California, Paramount, the parent company of CBS, unveiled a "Star Trek" themed float ahead of the Rose Parade, marking the sci-fi series' 60th anniversary.

Professional designers and volunteers alike worked at warp speed to put the finishing touches on the "Star Trek" float.

The float features the iconic starship, the USS Enterprise, rising above an array of planets.

"Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" cast member Karim Diané was on hand for the fun and festivities.

"Oh my God. It's massive. It's huge. yeah it's really cool. There's Roses everywhere," Diané expressed.

Diané and other legendary "Star Trek" cast members, including George Takei, are set to ride the float during the annual Rose Parade as it travels through Pasadena on New Year's Day.
