Actor George Clooney and his family granted French citizenship

(NBC, KYMA) - Actor George Clooney, his wife Amal and the couple's twins have been granted French citizenship.

The French government announced the citizenship decrees last weekend.

In 2021, the Clooneys purchased what the actor has called a "farm in France," which is used as the family's primary residence.

During a recent interview, the Oscar winner said he was worried about raising his children in the "the culture of Hollywood."

He said in France, "They're not on their iPads, you know?"

In addition to their home in France, they also have homes in England and near his family in Kentucky. However, it is unclear if Clooney retained his U.S. citizenship.

Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer, was born in Lebanon and raised in the United Kingdom while the couple's eight-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, were born in London.
