Woman killed, husband detained after vehicle crashes into San Diego home
SAN DIEGO (NBC, KYMA) - The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) says a woman was killed and her husband was detained after he crashed his vehicle into their home.
A Toyota Tacoma truck crashed into a house located in the area of Dakota Drive and Fontana Avenue just after 7:30 a.m. Monday. Police say the crash sparked a fire.
While inside the home to extinguish the fire, first responders found a man and a woman, believed to be husband and wife, and both had burns.
SDPD says while the woman died at the scene, the man was taken to UC San Diego's Burn Center, and says it appears the man was driving the truck.
SDPD says the man was detained, but there is no word on charges. They also say there was a temporarily restraining order against the man.
They don't know how the woman died, if she was hit by the truck, already dead inside the house, or died another way, but the investigation is ongoing.
