‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ remains no. 1 at the box office
(CNN, KYMA) - The weekend after Christmas is always big at the box office, and this year was no exception.
Sony's "Anaconda," a meta reboot of the 1997 film starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black, began its run in fifth place, earning $14.6 million.
Lionsgate's "The Housemaid," starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, dropped to fourth place on $15.4 million in ticket sales.
A24's "Marty Supreme," starring Timothee Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, took third place with $17.5 million.
Disney's "Zootopia 2" took second place, grabbing $20 million for a domestic total of $321 million.
After nabbing the top spot in last weekend's box office, 20th Century Studios' "Avatar: Fire and Ash" remains in first place, adding $64 million for a 10-day domestic total of $218 million.
