Highway in Nevada reopens after heavy snow prompts closure

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (CBS, KYMA) - Crews worked to reopen the Mount Rose Highway in Washoe County, Nevada Friday after heavy snow moved through the region and prompted closures.

Footage posted by the Nevada Department of Transportation (DOT) Reno shows a snowplow working to clear the highway.

Nevada DOT Reno wrote on X that the Mount Rose Highway had reopened between Reno and Incline Village, noting that crews had been working around the clock to clear snow and ice from the road.

The department warned travelers to expect winter conditions and low visibility, advising motorists to drive slowly, be aware of chain controls, and limit unnecessary travel.

The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories and warnings for the region, noting moderate to major storm impacts.
