Lundberg survey shows gas prices continuing to fall nationwide

(NBC, KYMA) - Drivers are getting a little more relief at the pump as a new Lundberg survey shows gas prices continuing to fall nationwide.

The national average price for regular gas dropped nine cents over the past two weeks to $2.99 a gallon. That is down nearly 17 cents over the past months. That is also the lowest price since April of 2021, and 13 cents cheaper than a year ago.

While the savings help consumers, analysts say demand remains weak, and lower prices would need to last for a month to bring drivers back to normal fuel use.

Wholesale prices are still falling, giving retailers room to cut prices further with experts saying the national average could drop another nickel soon.

But oil prices remain a risk as supply concerns tied to Russia, Venezuela, and fewer U.S. drilling rigs could push prices back up.
