Mexicali shelter seeking support from community

KYMA

MEXICALI, Mexico (KYMA) - A shelter in Mexicali is looking for donations to help those in need.

The Cobina Community Center provides free medical consultations, meals and a place to rest for people experiencing homelessness in downtown Mexicali.

The organization decided to expand its services to other vulnerable populations since the number of migrants it's assisting is low.

“You can donate personal hygiene items for women, and for men. You can also donate food because we need to continue feeding the people here," said Juan Alvarez, president of the Mexicali Pride Committee.

The Pride Committee is promoting the donation drive.

Those interested in supporting the effort can contact the organization through the Pride Committee of Mexicali’s social media platforms.
