Netflix to buy Warner Bros. for nearly $83 billion

(NBC, KYMA) - Netflix has reached an agreement to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $82.7 billion.

According to a press release out Friday morning, Netflix will acquire Warner Bros.'s film studio, and streaming platform HBO Max.

Warner Bros. Discovery will spin off it's TV networks, including TBS, TNT and CNN, as previously planned.

The acquisition is expected to close after those moves are finalized, Likely in the third quarter of 2026.

The announcement signals an end to a competitive bidding process that saw Paramount Skydance and Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, put in bids for Warner Bros.'s legacy assets.
