Tracking nice weather to kick off the month of December

We are officially in December, and we are starting off the month with great and comfortable weather conditions. I am tracking cooler temperatures in the days ahead.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Now that we are in December, we are closer to the winter season, and our holiday countdown continues. We are inching closer to Christmas and 2026. Take a look below.

Today is also the start of Metelogical Winter, which is December 1 and lasts through February 28. What this is means is that meteorological seasons use fixed calendar months rather than fluid astronomical seasons because it makes calculating seasonal statistics easier and produces more consistent data.

When it comes to winter, we are focused on chillier and colder temperatures, especially in January, as our average temperatures take a dip into the upper 60s. Take a look at our monthly averages at the start of the next three months.

Today we have been a little breezy with afternoons highs in the low 70s, which is above normal. But it's still been a great start to the week.

Going into the evening, we are in for clear skies, lighter winds, and chillier temperatures. Great weather to sit by the fire and drink hot cocoa or do some online shopping for Cyber Monday.

A weather system will continue to work its way toward our north, which is keeping our temperatures mild, along with dry conditions.

Tracking lots of sunshine this week with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will be trending near our average, so it will be comfortable and pleasant.

We have a weather system that will move in that will bring in cooler temperatures and possibly breezier conditions by the middle and end of the week.

Before we turn the page on November, take a look at our temperatures that were recorded. November was an overall warm month with above-normal temperatures. And one day we did tie a daily record high.
