Arizona State still has path to Big 12 Title Game but needs help

TEMPE, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona State enters the final week of the regular season with a chance although a complicated one to clinch a spot in the 2025 Edward Jones Big 12 Football Championship.

The Sun Devils sit on the edge of contention heading into their rivalry matchup with Arizona, and while a win in the Territorial Cup is mandatory, several other conference results will determine whether ASU punches its ticket to Arlington.

There are three possible paths for the Sun Devils:

Scenario 1

  • ASU beats Arizona
  • Texas Tech loses
  • Utah loses
  • BYU wins

Scenario 2

  • ASU beats Arizona
  • Utah loses
  • BYU loses

Scenario 3

  • ASU beats Arizona
  • Texas Tech loses
  • Utah wins

In all scenarios, Arizona State must defeat the Wildcats. From there, the Sun Devils need varying combinations of losses by Texas Tech and Utah, along with either a win or loss from BYU.

If the right pieces fall in place, ASU would earn its second ever appearance in the Big 12 Championship Game a major milestone in the program's transition into the conference.
