Rain chances building again as another storm approaches

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Showers remain possible across Yuma and Imperial counties through tonight as the current storm system slowly moves east, keeping skies cloudy and temperatures well below normal.

Highs today and Thursday will hover in the mid-60s, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s.

A stronger and more organized system will move into the region Thursday night and Friday, bringing a much better chance for moderate rainfall especially in Imperial County.

Forecast totals range from a half inch to locally around an inch in Imperial County, with Yuma more likely to see lighter amounts between a quarter and a half inch.

Some localized flooding could develop in typical trouble spots on Friday if heavier bands set up.

Rain chances taper off gradually on Saturday as the system slides into northern Mexico, with only spotty and light showers expected for Yuma County.

Drier and quieter weather is expected to return by early next week, with temperatures climbing back closer to normal.
