Arizona Western women’s basketball falls to Lamar CC

LAMAR, Colo. (KYMA) - The Matadors took a road trip to Lamar Community College, but did not leave in the fashion they planned on, dropping their game 61-50.

AWC played this game from behind from just about start to finish, being outscored in three out of four quarters.

Both sides struggled to hit three pointers with the Matadors finishing three-for-14 and Lamar only making one shot out of 16 attempts from behind the arc.

The difference in this one came down to turnovers and rebounding as Arizona Western lost both of those battles with three more turnovers and seven less boards.

Despite the loss, Mabel Doumbia filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. On the other side of the floor, the Matadors could not put a stop to Amaya Williams who dropped over half her team's total with 36 points.

AWC faces Mesa Community College back at home on Wednesday.
