Sunday brings higher temperatures than anticipated in certain areas

Lower temperatures are expected for weekday.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - San Luis clocked in a max temperature of 96°F Sunday afternoon, several degrees higher than what seemed to be the case Saturday night.

The rest of the Desert Southwest experienced forecasted peak heat in the 88-92°F range.

As it's currently being tracked in Yuma County, both Monday and Tuesday will see wind gusts pick up to its highest speed in the late morning, to early afternoon time range.

Expected gusts will get up to 18mph. As for the Imperial Valley, it will also see peak wind gusts in the same time frame, but will max out at 13mph.

Daily high temperatures during the week are expected to decline Monday through Thursday, with the dip stopping at 86°F for Thursday in both the Imperial Valley and Yuma County.
