Robert Englund, ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ actor, receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Actor Robert Englund was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday.

The actor is best known for his iconic role as serial killer Freddy Kreuger in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie franchise.

The versatile actor has appeared in more than 80 films, multiple television shows, and multiple guest star roles.

His upcoming film is the animated "Pinocchio: Unstrung," and a role in season four of "Stranger Things."

His is the 2,826th star on the famous Hollywood landmark.

Englund's co-star Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy Thompson in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, and horror film director Eli Roth served as guest speakers.

Englund and some of his fans talked about the honor.

"I'm really grateful for being permanently cemented, you know, into American popular culture," Englund expressed.

"I love Freddy Krueger. I was actually born in 1984 so it's kind of just a thing that's been for me, like for a long time, and I know his anniversary was last year, so I've been following him for a long time," said Natasha Montaya, a fan of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.

"It's long overdue, in my opinion. We've been following Robert since [the TV show] V from 1983...we've been following him for a long, long time," said Matt Supreme Commander, a fan of Englund's.
