10 hospitalized after balcony collapses at apartment near University of Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (CBS, KYMA) - There was a balcony collapse at an apartment complex near the University of Cincinnati (UC) Friday Night.

It happened about 10:00 p.m. Eastern on Stetson Street in the Corryville neighborhood. A police captain on the scene says that it was a wooden balcony that collapsed.

A total of 10 people were taken to the hospital. One of those injured has life-threatening injuries and was rushed into surgery.

The balcony was on a third floor.

It happened at an apartment complex that is not official UC student housing, but many students live in the complex.

A police captain on the scene says, from what they've gathered, it happened at a party to celebrate the completion of an exam.
