Vacant hotel and restaurant in Texas catches fire

AUSTIN, Texas (NBC, KYMA) - A vacant hotel and restaurant caught fire near the University of Texas-Austin campus Sunday evening, sending huge plumes of black smoke into the air.

More than 60 firefighters responded to the blaze.

The Austin Fire Department says the cause of the fire is not yet known, but that arson investigators are working the scene.

Electricity had to be shut down in the area due to the intensity and height of the flames.

Both buildings, a former Rodeway Inn and an Ethiopian restaurant, had been empty for some time.
