Suspects arrested in Calexico for attempted murder

CALEXICO.Cali(KYMA,KECY)- Two men, aged 40 and 35, were arrested on attempted murder charges after a stabbing in Calexico.

The Calexico police department says a 44-year old man was stabbed near the Calexico port of entry last week.

Police says the victim sustained a life-threating stab wound and had to be flown out of the county to a trauma center.

Calexico police say one of the suspect was arrested a few hours after the stabbing and the other suspect was arrested days after.

"There was a group of individuals involved in a heated argument that eventually turned physical... During the physical altercation where the stabbing happened we identified two suspects in the main altercation," said Acting Lt. Miguel Carbajal.

Calexico police did not release information on the relationship between the suspects and the victim.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Imperial County jail on attempted murder charges.
