Diamondbacks remain in Wild Card hunt with walk-off single
Geraldo Perdomo played hero in Tuesday's 5-4 win against the Dodgers, walking them off with a single
PHOENIX (KYMA) - Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo hit a line-drive walk-off single to seal a 5-4 comeback win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Earlier in the game, Adrian Del Castillo would shrink the Dodgers' lead to one, by hitting a two-run homer to right field.
Heading into the bottom of the ninth, the snakes were down 4-3, but Jorge Barrosa hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Ildemaro Vargas to score.
That set the stage for Geraldo Perdomo with Tim Tawa in scoring position, and he took full advantage, hitting a single to left field.
At this point, every game feels like a must-win game for the Diamondbacks, but they also need some help from the Chicago Cubs who are playing the New York Mets and the Pittsburg Pirates who are playing the Cincinnati Reds.
With the Reds loss today, the Mets stepped into the final Wild Card spot and the Snakes remain a game behind them (they hold the tiebreaker over New York, so a tie with the Mets would propel Arizona into the final Wild Card position).
Arizona's hope to crack the Wild Card continue, as they play L.A. for the second time in a three game series Wednesday night at 6:40 p.m.
