Gila Ridge defeats Imperial 3-1 in volleyball showdown

The Hawks traveled west to the Tigers den in a matchup that featured one of the best teams from Yuma County and one of the best teams from the Valley

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks bested the Imperial Tigers 3-1 in a back-and-forth volleyball matchup between two powerhouses from their respective regions.

In the first set, Gila Ridge took the early lead, but Imperial would storm all the way back, claiming the first set in a 26-24 victory.

After that win, the Hawks were soaring and didn't look back. They would win three straight sets in competitive battles in each one.

They would triumph over the Tigers with scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-21 in the final sets of the game.

Gila Ridge's next contest is at Tucson High Magnet School, while Imperial will host Brawley. Both games will be played on Thursday.
