Scarlett Johansson makes directorial debut with ‘Eleanor the Great’

(CBS, KYMA) - Actress Scarlett Johansson is stepping behind the camera for the first time with her directorial debut, "Eleanor the Great."

Academy Award nominee June Squibb stars in the film as a spirited 94-year-old who relocates from Florida to New York City after the devastating loss of her best friend.

She ultimately wanders into a Holocaust survivor support group and finds herself in the middle of a lie that has very serious consequences.

Johansson and Squibb appeared on CBS Mornings to talk about the movie.

"I just felt like this was a woman that I understood and that I thought she was so human," Squibb shared.

"It was so clear that this was an amazing showcase for June, an original idea...a showcase for me, certainly an opportunity I think to really make something original that felt like a little gem," Johansson added.

"Eleanor the Great" hits theaters nationwide Friday, September 26.
