CBP officers find nearly 10k pounds of illegal drugs in August

SAN DIEGO (KYMA) - In August 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) San Diego found nearly 10,000 pounds of illegal drugs.

CBP reports 155 seizures with the amount of narcotics valued at $24 million.

One arrest CBP highlighted was at the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility. On August 27, officers stopped a 36-year-old in a tractor-trailer with a shipment of furniture.

Officers found about 1,300 pounds of meth hidden within the furniture shipment.

Another highlight was at the Calexico Port of Entry. On August 13, officers stopped a commercial bus and found 241 pounds of meth inside the gas tank.

"These seizures highlight the vigilance and expertise of our CHP officers and canines," said Sidney Aki, Director of Field Operations for the San Diego Field Office. "Every day, our personnel work diligently to protect our communities from the threats posed by narcotics and other contraband. Their efforts are a testament to our mission of securing the border and facilitating lawful trade and travel."
