Armas scores five as Holtville rolls past Cibola 60-0

HOLTVILLE, Calif. (KYMA) - Holtville made a statement under the lights at Birger Field, handing the Cibola Raiders their first loss of the season in dominant fashion, 60-0.

The Vikings, who entered the night 2-1, wasted no time setting the tone. On the opening drive, quarterback Alonso Cuevas handed off to Enrique Armas, who broke free for a 50-yard touchdown. That was just the beginning of a monster night for Armas.

After Cibola was forced to punt on its first possession, Cuevas went deep to Alan Carrillo, who made a tough catch inside the Raiders' 5-yard line. Armas finished the drive with his second touchdown, bouncing outside and sprinting into the end zone.

The Raiders struggled to get their offense moving, punting on their first two series, while Holtville piled it on. Following a big punt return from Carrillo, Armas scored his third touchdown to make it 22-0. By halftime, Armas had already racked up four touchdowns, and the Vikings led 38-0.

Cibola showed some fight late in the second quarter, as quarterback Isaiah Rodriguez connected with Marquise Montague for a 13-yard gain and a first down. But the momentum was short-lived; Armas found the end zone once more before the break, finishing his night with five scores.

Holtville added three more touchdowns in the second half, including runs from Andre Gonzalez and Braxton Buscaglia, to cap off the 60-point shutout.

The win gives Holtville its first home victory of the season and improves the Vikings to 3-1. Cibola falls to 2-1 after opening the year with back-to-back wins.
