Kofa High snaps losing streak that spanned three years

The Kings snapped a 27-game home losing streak, earning their first home win since 2017

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Victors at last. That's what the Kofa Kings can finally say after snapping a 27-game losing streak that spanned over three seasons on Friday night against Alhambra at Irv Pallack Field.

The win in the Kingdom also marks their first victory at home since 2017.

Senior offensive tackle Chris Dominguez explains how special it was for him to win his first game as a high school football player.

"It's a pretty surreal feeling. Me and my guys, we've been at it since January of this year going at it," Dominguez said. "This is a really emotional moment for me. I'm nothing but grateful. All glory to God. And, I love my teammates."

Dominguez says his teammates are more than just his friends at this point.

"These guys, they became family to me," Dominguez said. "My running back, you know, that's family for life. He's done a lot for me, I've done a lot for him. My wide receiver Izaya Luna. I love that guy, like family."

At a certain point, the losing even felt normal.

"It almost felt normal. And that's crazy to say, but the struggle almost felt normal," Dominguez said. "The fact that we were able to pull off this victory is, very beyond, I can't even say the word for it. It's a very surreal feeling. I'm so blessed."

Speechless would be that word.

Kofa hopes to build upon this momentum as they travel to Cholla High School this Friday.
