Politicians react to activist Charlie Kirk’s death

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Politicians are speaking on the death of political activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was holding an event Wednesday on a Utah university campus when he was shot and later pronounced dead.
President Trump announced Kirk's death, writing on Truth Social, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
Vice President JD Vance posted to social media, "Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father."
California Governor Gavin Newsom wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form."
"We ask everyone to pray for him and his family. I'm just going to ... state the obvious here. This is detestable," said House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego made a statement, “This is beyond terrible. Charlie Kirk was a husband, father and son. Violence is never the answer. Sydney and I are keeping the Kirk family in our prayers.”
We will be talking to Yuma locals, as well as reach out to Arizona politicians.
