13 On Your Side Players of the Week: Enrique Armas and Gabriel Cota

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Two standouts from Week 2 high school football action have earned recognition as 13 On Your Side Players of the Week.

Holtvile senior running back Enrique Armas powered the Vikings to a statement win over Yuma Catholic, carrying the ball 33 times for 284 yards and three touchdowns.

Through just two games, Armas has established himself as one of the premier rushers in the country. He ranks 13th nationally in rushing yards with 691, sits second in California, and holds the top spot in the San Diego Section. His 776 total yards also place him among the top 300 players nationwide.

On the other side of the border, Gila Ridge senior wide receiver Gabriel Cota has become one of the top playmakers in Arizona.

In the Hawks' win over Greenway, Cota hauled in 9 receptions for 144 yards and 3 scores, helping Gila Ridge even its record at 1-1.

For the season, Cota has 177 receiving yards, ranking him 40th statewide, along with four total touchdowns.

Both athletes have not only delivered big performances for their teams early in the season, but their numbers also put them among the top competitors across Arizona and California.
