At least six killed, dozen injured in bus stop attack in Jerusalem

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Tensions remain high in the Middle East in the wake of a Monday morning attack in Jerusalem, the deadliest in the Israeli city since 2023.

At least six people were killed and a dozen were injured when Palestinian attackers opened fire at a bus stop in Jerusalem.

Israeli police said two gunman launched the attack during morning rush hour. A security officer and an armed civilian at the scene returned fire, killing the attackers.

"Two Palestinian terrorists murdered Jews on buses at the remote junction in the entrance to Jerusalem. So far six Israelis have been killed. There are many, many injured including pregnant women. We pray for them. We are in a war with radical Islamist terrorism.," said Gideon Saar, Israeli Foreign Minister.

The attack comes a day after President Donald Trump gave what he called a "last warning" to Hamas to agree to his terms for ending the war in the region, adding that Israel had accepted his proposed ceasefire and hostage-release agreement.
