Apollo sweeps Kofa 3-0 in girls volleyball

The Hawks flew into the Kingdom for girls high school volleyball and swept Kofa in three sets

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Apollo Hawks made the trip from Glendale on Tuesday night and left with a sweep over the Kofa Kings at Rillos Gym.

Apollo set the tone early, but Kofa started storming back late. As the Hawks held steady, the Kings would eventually fall 25-21 in the first set.

In the second set, the teams traded points, but Kofa again couldn't get enough of a run going to overtake the lead from Apollo, losing the second set 25-22, giving the Hawks a two-set advantage.

Apollo carried that momentum into the third, beating Kofa 25-21, completing the sweep. Apollo improved to 1-1 on the season, while Kofa shifted to 1-1 with the loss.

The Kings next game is against the Youngker Roughriders in Buckeye, Arizona on September 4 at 6 p.m.
