Storm chances diminishing as heat slowly returns

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Storm chances are sticking around a little longer for Yuma and Imperial counties, but the active weather is starting to wind down.

After widespread monsoon activity earlier this week, only isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected through Wednesday.

Any storms that do form could still bring pockets of heavy rain, but the overall threat is much lower than before.

Highs will stay near or just below 100 degrees through midweek, keeping conditions a little more comfortable.

By Friday, drier air will settle in, ending rain chances and pushing temperatures back into the 104–108 degree range this weekend.

The hotter, drier stretch may not last too long, with monsoon moisture possibly making a return by the middle of next week.
