Sandstorm rips through Burning Man festival in Nevada

BLACK ROCK CITY, Nev. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Over the weekend, high wind gusts stirred up a dust storm at Burning Man.

Video out of Black Rock City, Nevada shows just how reduced festivalgoers' visibility was during the sandstorm.

In a statement, a Burning Man Project spokesperson said gusts reached "over 45 miles per hour for a sustained period of time" on Saturday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a wind advisory and participants and staff were advised to prepare themselves, according to the spokesperson.

They also shared that with improved weather conditions on Sunday, participants helped each other repair damaged camps and art installations.

The NWS anticipates moderate conditions over the next few days, with the possibility of high winds and slight precipitation.
